This week was the end of the beginning. We ended January 2018 and started the shortest month of the year.
Though time seems to travel fast, I feel as if I have gone through so much, accomplished so many things and achieved a lot on a personal front.
I have spent more time with my friends, cooked with them, and went out with them.
The last day of January was my sister’s birthday and I enjoyed talking to her and my family more than what we normally do. Her A-level results will be out tomorrow, Monday 5th February, and as an elder sister, I can’t help but be protective of her. I want to cuddle her, be there for her, physically and mentally just like she was there for me when I got my results.
I know though, that I have to let go. I have to be able to let my sister have her own experiences, let her be her own person and let her make her own mistakes. I’ll be with her heart, mind and soul.
The beginning of February was again a bit slow for me. As I said in my previous post, I will be writing 3 goals for every day and I will be trying to achieve my goals everyday.

These were my 3 goals for the first day of the month.
#1 Write a post for personal blog
#2 Write a second post
#3 Go to bed before midnight
I started the day quite late. I took the bus to my favourite coffee shop and on the bus ride, I started getting ideas for a post. I started writing it on my phone and while writing this, I got another idea and I closed the first draft and started a new one.
When I reached the coffee shop, it was 1.30 pm. I bought a pineapple Danish cake and a coffee and started writing and editing my posts while eating the cake and drinking my coffee.
By 5.30 pm, my eyes were tired, my shoulders ached and I had accomplished my 2 goals.
I took my bag and set off for a restaurant for dinner.
By 8 pm I was home. I showered and video called my family and then I read a few blog posts before I went to bed at 11 pm.
My 3 goals for the day were accomplished and I felt optimistic about the next day.

I woke up quite early, but I stayed in bed watching videos on youtube. I woke up around 11, did laundry, had brunch/lunch, showered and went to the library.
I started researching the topic that I chose for Wednesday’s post and spent one hour on it until I felt sleepy. I can’t work without coffee sometimes, but I try not to drink it every day. So I went for a walk on the 5th floor where I was studying. I browsed some books and after a while, I returned to my desk.
But, I didn’t want to continue the research.
I realised that I had saved some links to learn photoshop. I looked them up and I finally found the website. I spent the rest of my time at the library learning about the basics of Adobe Photoshop and the whole time I was being impatient to use the new knowledge that I was learning to put it in practice.
I returned home, cooked chicken curry and had bread with it. I showered and started reading blog posts.
I make it a point now to read a few blogs every day before going to bed.
I also downloaded a few movies for the weekend and that was it for the second day of the month.

Goals for the day

The day started well enough. I woke up before noon, had breakfast and cleaned my room. I cleaned the kitchen and watched some videos (procrastinating) I had initially decided to go to another coffee shop in Time square but then, I felt lazy. I would have gone to my favourite coffee shop but it was 2 pm, and by then I wanted to stay at home. I stayed in bed, read a book, watched videos of food recipes and the food looked so delicious that I immediately jumped out of bed and went to prepare a few things before going to the grocery store.
That was really not a good idea. I realised that when I entered the supermarket and crowds of people were buzzing in the aisle. Chinese New Year was approaching and everyone was shopping.
I tried to be as quick as possible and I was out of the supermarket in under an hour.
As soon as I got home, I started cooking dinner. I made a simple pasta with carrots, chicken and tomato. I also tried to make potato pancake. I saw a simple recipe on youtube. I just played around with the quantities. So you’ll need potato, gram flour, garlic, cumin, turmeric, mustard seed, chilli, salt and oil.
Peel and grate the potato(es).
Squeeze the water out of the grated potato(es).
Add turmeric, salt, gram flour, cumin, mustard, and all the other dry ingredients.
Heat the pan and drizzle some oil on it.
Take a spoonful of the mixture and spread it on the pan. I made palm-sized pancakes and I made them quite thin.
Let them become golden brown and that’s when you’ll know they’re cooked.
The result was not so great, so I didn’t take a picture. But I did eat them and they were quite good. They could make great breakfast foods. I kept part of the mixture in the fridge for later use.
I didn’t even wash the dishes. I had dinner, showered, watched a movie called “Wonder”, read blogs (not necessarily in that order) and went to bed.
I didn’t accomplish all my goals for today, but that’s okay. I’ll try to do better tomorrow.

Today was a lazy day. I again woke up with my alarm, but I snoozed it and went back to sleep. When I woke up, I washed last night’s dishes, cleaned the kitchen, had brunch, and tidied my room.
I started writing a few drafts which I plan to complete during the week and the rest of the time, I basically just read books that I had borrowed from the library. Now it’s time for dinner and though I have a few ideas about what I want to eat, I don’t want to leave my bed, from where I am writing this post.
I haven’t yet written a poem, the one that I was supposed to start yesterday. I tried to write a few lines, give it a shape, a body, a soul, in vain. I’m still trying hard with poetry but it’s a bit difficult for me.
I’ll also need to plan and organise my week, as I am trying to be better, at time management and at improving myself.
Tomorrow, I will probably be going out with my friends and this excites me. Tomorrow also will be a new day with many firsts! I will tell you all about them in next Sunday’s post!
