You give me all you have,
Yet ungrateful I am.
At your knees
you hold yourself
gagged and tied
vulnerable and weak to some
strong and brave to others.
Almost destitute of your energy
you still fight back
with your hunched back
and your chained feet.
Your unbroken spirit
and open heart
still manage to
protect us all.
for the moment.
I wonder how much longer
until all your luscious hair
turn grey and fall;
until your eyes
overflood with tears
and ravage us all;
until your wrinkles
open up into holes,
ensueing in millions of your children,
grappling for a place to survive.
You give me all you have,
Yet ungrateful I am.
